Mrs Ward's WW1 quilts

Yesterday Mrs Ward showed us her two quilts made out of her grandad, Gainor and his two brothers Ernest and Alban's letters. Ernest died on the 22nd of August 1918 and Alban died on the 29th of August 1918. Ernest died by having a wash in a pond but the Turks threw a shell/bomb in the pond, unfortunately he died and his family was sent a telegram from the telegram boy. Seven days later Alban died but nobody knew how. Gainor survived but he went missing. The telegram boy had to go to the house again but he didn't know that he was just lost so he kept the letter. Later he was found and he is 93 and still lives in the same house in Devenport.
